Frequently Asked Questions

If you have a question that is not listed here, please feel free to email us at office@AllStarsPerform.com, or contact our office at 678-400-0091.

Q: How old does my child have to be to take lessons at ALL STARS?
A: We offer classes for students who are 3-93.

Q: What styles of dance do you offer?
A:
The styles offered vary by age group, but include: Ballet, Pointe, Tap, Jazz, Contemporary/Lyrical, Hip Hop, Popping/Animation, Clogging, Irish, Bollywood, Belly Dancing, Ballroom.Latin. To see the specific styles offered by age, please click HERE to see the Dance Schedule Page.

Q: How many "sessions" do you have per year?  And, Can I start anytime.
A: Our studio year runs from August to late May,  following the Gwinnett County Public School Calendar.  Our ten-month schedule gives our instructors the opportunity to know their students well.  This in turn allows them to tailor their class format to meet the unique needs of each dancer. Thus, we encourage students to register for the full dance school year.  However, we offer open enrollment, meaning that as long as there are spots available in a class, we will allow students to register at any time of year.  Please note that for some classes, dancers joining after September 15, can be asked to take 1-3 private lessons to help catch them up on vocabulary and technique that has already been presented.

Q:  Do you accept male students?
A:
We welcome male students ages 3-19 in all classes, with the exception of Belly Dancing. We even offer boys special pricing for Ballroom/Latin classes.

Q: My daughter is 14 years old, and this will be her first year in dance class.  Will she be in a “beginner” class with much younger students?
A: ALL STARS offers beginner classes in most styles by age groups as follows: Ages 3-Pre-k, Grades K-2nd, 3rd-5th, and 6th-12th. Please note the Ballroom/Latin also has 6th-8th and 9th-12th graders. Classes with a wider range of ages include: Tap, Clogging and Irish which are divided by level, rather than age.  These run 3rd-12th grade.  So she will mostly be enrolled in a class with students in her own age group. Most of our classes have both new and current students; more than likely, she will meet another student in her class who is also a beginner.

Q: How long are the dance classes?
A: Dance Classes are schedule for 55 min.. However, please make sure to have your student available to start class at the scheduled time.  We appreciate your understanding that for classes following other classes, the change of class may sometimes cause a delay in the classes start time, and we provide water breaks as needed based on age and intensity of the class.  Although these issues can take from the 1 hour class time, the intended material to be taught in class for each day, and rehearsals required for performances, will be properly covered.  Also, please understand that there may be occasion when a class is let out a bit later. This can happen especially around show time. On rare occasions a class might let out up to 5 minutes early, due to students working extra hard or efficiently/effectively during class-- this has happened on occasion with younger age classes when they have had a harder technique or rehearsal class, and have earned the fun time, or early release.

Q: Are parents allowed to observe classes each week?
A:
Each of our studios has a viewing window through which parents are welcome to watch the class.

Q: What attire do I need to wear to dance class?
A:
Proper dance attire is required in order to participate in class.  The discipline and honor of a dancer has been well respected for centuries.
So, get into the groove!  Be proud to be a dancer and wear your uniform with pride.  Wear your hair up or in a bun, as required for the class you take, and be neat.  It will show your enthusiasm, your respect and your seriousness about your dance training.
